Even Our Worst Critics Will Agree We Have Tried On Security – President Buhari Asserts

President Buhari has said the security situation in the country has improved since his assumption of office in 2015 that even the worst critics of the party can attest to it.

This was asserted, in a statement signed by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr Garba Shehu after the President’s visit to condole with the families of the victims of killings in Taraba State.

He said his APC-led administration had focused on securing the country since assumption of office, adding that the “worst critics of APC will agree that we have tried in improving the security situation in the country, right from the Boko Haram attacks.’

I came here mainly to have this forum with leaders, traditional rulers and the state government to extend my condolences to all those who have lost loved ones and properties.

“I am appealing to the traditional rulers not to give up in pursuing peace. The country has to be secured before you can manage the economy

"We Will Help Ghana Fight Corruption " president Muhammadu Buhari

“We Will Help Ghana Fight Corruption” – President Muhammadu Buhari.

While addressing an audience at the 61st Independence day celebration of Ghana in Accra earlier today, President Buhari promised to help the Ghanaian government fight corruption in their country.

The head of states, during his speech, noted that with the right leadership and implementation of public policies, Africa’s quest to eradicate poverty and entrench democracy was on course.

He commended the Ghanaian president, Nana Akufo-Addo, on his achievements in his first year in office with particular reference to his committed efforts towards stamping out corruption from Ghana.

He’s quoted as saying:

“Your Excellency can be assured that you have a good partner in me as I look forward to any form of collaboration between Nigeria and Ghana in tackling the menace of endemic corruption.

From Nigeria, I have watched closely your achievements, ranging from your ingenious approach to creating jobs for the teeming youths through various initiatives, including the repositioning of agriculture for modern farming, ‘Farming for Jobs and Food’, Senior High School (SHS) free education, One-District-One-Factory, and One-Village-One-Dam as well as the improvement being recorded in the Republic’s macroeconomic indicators.

All these efforts, I am aware, have made Ghana to become a good destination for foreign direct investment just like Nigeria. Accept my congratulations! I congratulate both the government and the Parliament for the quick passage of the Office of the Special Prosecutor Act and its signing into law.

Given all these public policies, it becomes reassuring that with the right leadership, Africa’s drives to eradicate poverty and to entrench democracy is on course,” he said

IS TEKNO BACK TO BEING AN UPCOMING ARTISTE?

Is Tekno Back To Being An Upcoming Artiste?

The crossing from being up and coming to becoming an established act is usually tough, rough and tortuously long. For an artiste like Tekno whose time, talent and effort had been heavily invested in the exercise of taking a leap from the base, seeing his songs become such highly-sought material in the Industry like they were in 2016, must have brought a taste of fulfillment to his heart. I imagine that he had his moments of revel when he said to himself, ‘I made it against all odds.’

Infact, I remember that he publicly bragged about owning the biggest sounds in an industry where the likes of Wizkid and Davido are still very much active and more surprisingly, his statement was left unchallenged perhaps because there was a grain of truth in it. At the time he made the statement, he was just coming off the heels of an immensely successful year which saw his releases rank among the hottest pop properties on the continent.

Tekno’s fairly long streak of hit releases would have made even Wizkid turn green – Diana, Wash, Duro, Pana and the list goes on. There’s a certain level an artiste would get to that he/she would be confident enough to ask for suggestions of song title from the public – that’s the level of the greatest composers, those with the Midas touch, those with the rare ability to turn freestyles into classics. Tekno was in that realm. He was ‘freely’ dropping bangers like it was Christmas.

Interestingly, the Tekno fireworks continued even till the early periods of 2017 when he applied a portion of his magic in the production of Davido’s record breaking song, IF. More of his gift manifested on Rara, so when the topic of a Tekno album was mentioned, the loud beat of drums were rolled – ‘Teenage Dreams’ he called it and his fans spread the word – ‘a Tekno album is on its way, be prepared.’

But things started to fall apart for the self-acclaimed ‘Slim Daddy.’ His songs no longer got the usual wild buzz enjoyed by his previous offerings. Tekno went on a spree that saw him release 6 songs in about 11 months (1 song in 2 months) with the hope that he would strike gold with one but none of Yawa, Samantha, Go and his other releases of 2017 had the groundbreaking effect that Tekno needed to climb back to the realm he once dwelt in. He must have realized somewhere along the line that his problem has more to do with content rather than consistency.

So he made a last resort move to use the Wizkid factor to score a hit and wrap up 2017 on a high note but his attempt at creating a major inspiration piece like Ojuelegba, fell short of expectation. During a chat about Tekno and his failure on his promise to release an album last year, a respected music critic made a satiric statement. He said, ‘Tekno has dropped his album in 2016’, meaning that Tekno has put out his best materials in his year of rush.

His struggles are not limited to his musical releases, his stage performances too started to suffer from his dip in form. A friend of mine who saw him perform last year at the Jimmy Jump Off show in Lagos reported almost nothing good about Tek’s performance. I remember he said that it was so bad that at some point Tekno had to say to the audience, ‘if una no go dance, I go dance.’ It got even worse when his dirty linen was spread out on social media by Kenyans who slammed him for his poor outing at The Wave With Tekno event held in Nairobi late last year.

Whether or not you’re a fan of his, you’d honestly agree that the Tekno of today is not the Tekno of the heydays of 2016 that had the Panas, Dianas and IFs coming from his creative room. It sad but necessary to say that it seems Tekno has plunged to the dreaded point of little change where you find once-buzzing artistes with potential for great things, wasting away.

Lady confess How She Put Poison On Nipple To kill Her Cheating Husband (Read story)

Lady Confess How She Put Poison On Nipple To Kill Her Cheating Husband (Read Details)

Husbands need to tune this cheating down a bit biko nu. This is the reason why most men die before their time. And when your wife still cooks for you and opens her leg for you, and yet your cheating on her, my brother, your life is hanging in a balance oo.

A married woman has confessed of killing her husband by applying poison on her nipples for him to suck and die during their sexual encounter.

The married woman who confessed together with other 24 Ghanaian married women disclosed shocking cheating stories in the Facebook inbox of David Papa Bondze-Mbir to share on his wall to the public on condition of anonymity when he asked for true confessions on why some married women cheated on their partner on his Facebook wall.

Read details below:

“1. “David, I know you are protecting our identities – that is why I am feeling a little bit comfortable, opening up to ONLY you.

I am pleading with you, if you still are not so sure of how safe the security of your Facebook account is, kindly copy my message into a Word document or folder, and DELETE my message – to protect me, should anyone try hacking your system. Thank you.

I am in my second marriage. And yes, I am cheating on my husband. I wasn’t always like this: I used to be faithful. I used to be content with only one man. I used to love and trust, from deep within.

However, my first husband turned me into something I never knew I could be: A murderer! I killed him, Dave… I poisoned my first husband, and watched him die in our bedroom, painfully.

I mixed a deadly, colorless, tasteless, odorless substance with my lotion, smeared it gently on my breast, rubbed it on my vagina, put some on my lips: I coated every part of my body I knew he enjoyed putting his mouth and tongue on, and watched him swallow every bit of his own saliva, mixed with the substance.

Dave, sometimes, a cheating, filthy, lying bastard, ought to die – for you to live. I deserved to live, Dave. I deserved to live.

I’m glad our incompetent Ghanaian medical doctors could still not diagnose the true cause of his death after the autopsy. Everybody, including his family, all think he died from an acute liver problem.

I am cheating on my current husband because I don’t want to lose another man in a marriage; so I would rather want to cheat on him too, as a form of closure – in order not to lose my mind.

He started cheating on me when I was Seven (7) months pregnant. Smh! These foolish men eh: we give them everything, yet, they choose to fool around. I feel very sorry for this my current husband. I’m still timing him closely. His time will come

I Doubt If Nigeria Is Truly Out Of Recession ~~Atiku Abubakar

I Doubt If Nigeria Is Truly Out Of Recession – Atiku Abukabar

Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has expressed doubts over Nigeria’s exit from economic recession.

He made this known in his keynote address while picking the Silverbird’s 2017 man of the year award in Lagos during the weekend.

He said: “Last year, we celebrated the fact that we exited our first recession in 25 years. To me, that celebration was premature.

“After contracting for five consecutive quarters, Nigeria came out of recession in the second quarter of 2017 with a GDP growth rate of 0.55 per cent. In the third quarter, we fared better with 1.40 per cent.

“While this looks somewhat like we exited the recession, the reality is that when you factor in our population growth rate of 2.3 per cent, which is one of the highest in the world, have we really exited a recession? Technically, yes, but in reality, it is doubtful.”

2019 Election "Buhari Already Has 12 Million Votos On Ground ~Former Petroleum Minister

2019 Election: Buhari Already Has 12 Million Votes On Ground – Former Petroleum Minister

A former Petroleum Minister, Chief Don Etiebet, has claimed that President Muhammadu Buhari has 12 million votes already ahead of the 2019 presidential election.

He said that Buhari’s chances of re-election were very bright, citing the pattern of voting across the country that will favour him.

In an interview with Vanguard, the Chairman of Akwa Ibom APC Caucus highlighted some of the achievements of the president, adding that nobody in the country can match Buhari’s base of support.

He said:-

“He [Buhari] has created an atmosphere of fear for people not to be as corrupt as before. Look at what is happening in the case of Treasury Single Account (TSA); all of those trillions of Naira in the bank now through the TSA, where was it before?

“Public servants were taking all the money and nothing was saved. The country has been able to come out of recession because President Buhari has been able to get these monies that would have been looted.

“The Minister of Finance the others went to New York and said that the former government left an empty treasury and the people so accused have not come out to say they didn’t up till now.

“And you have also heard about all the monies looted in the Ministry of Petroleum. You have heard about all the monies looted in the Ministry of Defense which were meant to fight Boko-Haram but they didn’t use them.

“The Bible says ‘seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and all other things shall be added unto you.’

“The Kingdom of God to reposition Nigeria for economic growth is to bring corruption to zero level. It may not get to zero level but can be reduced to a level that can allow development.

“So many things have to be reprogrammed, restructured and repositioned for the country to progress and you cannot achieve that overnight.

“But President Buhari has laid the foundation for achieving that and that is why I am supporting him. Since 2003 when President Buhari first entered the presidential election, he has had a base of support that you cannot dismantle.

“Nobody in this country can match Buhari in that base. Mr. President has a base of 12 million voters and, whatever people say, cannot be dismantled.

“In 2003, go and check the records, 12 million votes; 2006, 12 million; 2014, 12 million; 2015, 12 million, plus the top up from the South –West that didn’t vote for him before; like Kano which was PDP before, and Jigawa that was PDP before.

“Second, in 2003 the three southern zones, during election time under former President Obasanjo, declared only 880,000 votes for Buhari and declared over 12 million votes for Obasanjo. I was there and I stopped the announcement of the results because I said it was not proper and correct.”

"Federal government Cannot Sleep With Eye's Closed Because Of The Media "Lai Mohammed

”Federal Government Cannot Sleep With Eyes Closed Because Of The Media” – Lai Mohammed

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, has restated the Federal Government’s commitment to the freedom of the press, saying the media has nothing to fear from the present administration.

The Minister stated this in Abuja on Thursday when he received a delegation from the International Press Institute (IPI) on a courtesy visit to his office.

“The media has nothing to fear from the government. But on the contrary, we are the ones that cannot sleep with our eyes closed because of the media,” he said.

Mr. Mohammed, who said the government always takes criticism from the media in good faith, however, appealed to the media to be fair and constructive in its criticisms.

“Like I always say, this government will never stifle the media. We take so many punches everyday from the media. We are not saying please don’t criticise us, do criticise us, but please do your own homework thoroughly also and be fair to us. That’s all we are asking. Please criticise us on facts and not on emotion,” he said.

The minister said the present administration believes that democracy cannot thrive without a free press but noted that the media should report the government within the context of the daunting challenges facing the nation, most of which were inherited by the administration.

He said the government is on a rescue mission, but noted that the rot of 16 years cannot be corrected within two and a half years.

Mr. Mohammed said the administration succeeded in preventing a total collapse of the economy and has returned the country to the path of economic growth and sustainable development.

He thanked the IPI for its confidence in Nigeria by granting the country the hosting right for its annual congress, saying the IPI World Congress 2018, scheduled for Abuja on 21-23 June, will give the government the opportunity to showcase its achievements to the international media.

In her remarks, the Executive Director of IPI, Barbara Trionfi, said she is in the country to interface with media professionals towards the successful hosting of the forthcoming congress.

She commended the government for its efforts towards promoting press freedom and the safety of journalists in the country, and tasked the media industry to look beyond business rivalry and competition in order to cooperate and promote the core values of journalism.

Ms. Trionfi was accompanied on the visit by the Chairman of IPI Nigeria and Publisher of Media Trust, Kabiru Yusuf; former Director-General of the Nigerian Television Authority, Tonnie Iredia, and the Secretary of IPI Nigeria, Raheem Adedoyin, among others

My Fight With Wizkid Helped Me To Be Better ~Singer ,Saoen Reveals

‘My Fight With Wizkid Helped Me To Be Better’ – Singer, Saoen Reveals

Singer, Saeon had a spat with Wizkid in the past which led to her being threatened by the Starboy. The incident was well circulated in the media in its heat but Saeon has been off the scene for a while.

She recently had a chat with PunchNG where she hinted that she has since moved on. Responding to a question on whether she has forgiven Wizkid, she said;

“One of the reasons I decided to title my latest single as Rebirth is because I have come to realize that many things we go through in life are meant to teach us lessons which shape us for the better and I believe everything that has happened – none of which I regret – has led me to this point.”

On what led to her absence from the industry, Saeon stated;

“I had a tough but interesting 2017. I lost my dad midway through the year and I kept a low profile afterwards because he was dear to me. He inspired my love for songwriting and music generally. He was my number one supporter; so, losing him felt like I had lost a huge part of me. I had to take time to process it and to be with my family. I’m happy to be back to work and I know he would want me to forge ahead and keep following my dreams.”

Maintaining that she still has what it takes to hold her own in the industry, Saeon said;

“I don’t do what I do to compete. I make music to fulfill my purpose. I make music to inspire, reform and connect people. I make music for arts and culture. I make music for the people

5 Nigerian Artistes Who Need To Drop A Hit Sing In 2018 ,else they Might be Forgotten

5 Nigerian Artistes Who Need To Drop A Hit Song In 2018, Else They Might Be Forgotten

The Nigerian entertainment industry keeps getting entries day by day. Several upcoming artistes are looking for ways to break in and replace the dormant ones.

The dormant ones who have failed to give the fans what they want “Hit singles” back to back.

Giving hit singles is the only way to remain relevant or else an artiste risk losing followership to other artistes who release hit singles.

Simply put, Hit singles is the oxygen for survival in the entertainment industry.

Without hit, an artiste career might deteriorate and eventually die. You should ask Sean Tizzle who has refused to give us an hit or Davido who keeps increasing his fan base with back to back hit singles.

Below are artistes who need to give us a hit single in 2018.

1. Yemi Alade
Yemi on this list? Don’t be surprised. It’s because she has been giving us shitty music.

Music with stupid titles. Tum Bum, what’s the meaning of that?

Late last year, Yemi Alade released her third studio album and not even one hit track?? Whereas her contemporaries have been giving us hits back to back through singles and collaborations, Yemi has failed to do.

What she feeds us is Tum Bum music all year round. No evolution in any way. Her lyrics game is wack.

Yemi can repeat a line 10 times in a song and her song has no verse or chorus. The chorus is the verse and the second verse is still part of the chorus.

The last hit we heard from Yemi was Johnny, her only hit till date. Whilst Tiwa Savage and Simi have been bringing their A-game to the scene, giving us back to back hit.

Yemi keeps looking from afar, clueless and has nothing to give to the fans. We need a hit from you, Yemi!!!

2. Davolee
Has anybody heard from Uncle Davolee in recent times. Seems his well of punchlines has dried up.

Giving his antecedent as a hustler on the street, he came on board as someone with a tanker load of punchlines and hits.

So what has been stalling his career? His inability to conform to the industry’s requirements.

Fact is you might be talented, but if you don’t possess the techniques, you can’t blow! There was a time Wizkid was doing RnB when he discovered that Afro Beat needed someone to fill in the gap, Baba Nla changed game asap!

That’s what is wrong with Davolee? He has to unearth the secret to a hit song.

Davolee just drops a song filled with punchlines without no style or direction. Go and ask Ola Dips if he has blown with that style. We need a hit bruh!

3. Dremo
Joining Mayorkun in 2016 as part of the newly formed DMW, Dremo has everything he needed to actually succeed instead of Mayorkun.

For facts sake, Mayorkun was just starting up but Dremo had been in the industry for a while. He had been on some collaborations and freestyles with DJs and Producers before he got signed.

He had recorded his own version of Panda and that stuff went viral.

He finally got his big break in 2016 when he got signed. Now, we expected more hits from Dremo but what we saw was a lazy Dremo, he won’t release songs and when he finally released, his songs were like infertile sperm.

Dead On Arrival! It didn’t make much impact. A frustrated fan had to write a letter to up his game. Still no hits.

All records he gave to fans were slept on. In 2018, Dremo has to give us a hit else….. 🤔

Dremo is way too talented. Who saw his freestyle session on Hennessy Cypher?

Bros, if it is to go to Mayorkun and beg him to write a song for you, please do or else you risk joining Iyanya and Ice Prince at the relegation zone or you might even be booted out of DMW like Ichaba.

4. Viktoh
We honestly don’t know if Viktoh is still interested in doing music or continue with his Video vixen career 😂😂 because from Day One, he seemed not to be interested in the advancement of his music career.

Viktoh, your friend Lil Kesh was signed after you and yet he stil

You Need pati3nce ,persistence And Diligence To Work Davido !!!!Producer,Fresh VDM

You Need Patience, Persistence & Diligence To Work With Davido – Producer, Fresh VDM

Producer, Fresh VDM, the brain behind the production of Davido’s 2017 hit song, ‘FIA’ and a couple of the singer’s other songs, spoke on what it is like working with the OBO, saying it takes patience to work with him.

“Working with Davido has been epic; it requires a lot of hard work and determination.

With someone like Davido who gets beats thrown at him from every angle, you need patience, persistence and diligence”, he said in an exclusive chat with Showtime.”

He spoke on the challenges he has had to grapple with, working with the DMW henchman who has been described as a workaholic.

“With Davido, you have to be on your toes because he will not like every beat you make, not because it’s not dope but because it has to align with the ideas he has in his head.

Also, he can call you at 2am and be like ‘Can you come over? There is this idea I have’, and you have to go to his house,” he said.

The Togolese-born, Nigerian-bred producer made an attempt to correct the misconception that Davido is arrogant, selfish, proud and snobbish.

“David is the sweetest and most caring person I have come to know. He has an amazing heart.

People who don’t know him can hardly see it. He treats everyone as an equal regardless of your social status; he never looks down on you”, he said.

Fresh VDM has gotten thumbs up for good productions from the likes of American Drake and Steflon Don.

His most recent productions include ‘Ada’ by DJ ECool, featuring Davido; ‘DOE’ by Larry Gaaga, and the latest, ‘Mind’ by DMW stars, Davido, Mayorkun, Dremo and Peruzzi

Femi Kuti Releases New Album Today ,To Perform At Mew Afrika Shrine Today

Femi Kuti Releases New Album, To Perform At New Afrika Shrine Today

Afrobeat legend Femi Kuti released his 10th studio album “One People One World” today. The album which he has been working on for some years now is a new direction for the Afrobeat legend who says he has become more optimistic about the future of the African man. In a recent interview with the Rolling Stone magazine, Kuti said the album’s optimistic lyrical themes underscore the important way music can make politics personal and instigate social change. “I’m a father and I love my kids, so I want to give the younger generation a message of hope,” he said. “Despite all our problems, we can create greatness in our lives.”

Two singles off the album “Na Their Way Be That” and the title track “One People One World” have already been released to much critical acclaim, enjoying rave reviews from listeners on Nigerian radio stations. Speaking on the album, British Arts Journalism website The Arts Desk believes “This fiery 50-minute rant against the greedy and corrupt has more than enough to satisfy both the head and the hips”

Femi begins a series of live performances of the album this Sunday with a command performance at the New Afrika Shrine, Lagos and the “One People One World” tour will hit other locations in the coming weeks according to his management company Chocolate City Group who say the plan is to take Femi Kuti’s brand of Afrobeat as close to fans of the legend as possible.

He and his band, Positive Force, recorded much of the album in Lagos and it is distributed in Nigeria on all major digital platforms by Chocolate City Music

Wizkid "Soco" is Only Hype ,Nothing Gòod About ,(my take ) Whats yours

Wizkid’s “Soco” Is Only Hype, Nothing Good About It . . My Thoughts

Oya soco soco, soco soco soco
Soco soco baby oh…

If Nigerians would enjoy a year of high-level musical entertainment, Wizkid would play a crucial part in it and if otherwise, he’d still be a principal part of it. This is to show just how much influence the Starboy holds in the Nigerian music industry. He is the one that sets the standards – arguably, he is the ‘king’

So, to start 2018 and to determine our fate (music consumers) as regards the quality of music made in Nigeria; Wizkid has released his much-anticipated Soco song and fans have been reacting to the release. Below are some of the thoughts of TX team members about the song.

Please read and share your own thoughts in the comment section.

@ibironketweets I imagine that it would be a boring experience being a fan of Wizkid at a time like this when his music has become only bearable rather than mind-blowing like it once was, especially when his hunger for success could not be quenched with half-done pieces. The days when Wizkid was conscious about making music to impress and win over fans, not now that he has tens of millions of loyalists who would cheer loudly even when he is coughing badly.

I’ve heard some of these Wizkid FC members scream Starboy! Starboy! and seen comments on the brilliance of Soco since it dropped but in my opinion it is just another product of a freestyle session which was deemed fit to be called a hit song because it is a ‘vibe’ – a cheap vibe, a vibe with everyone on it sounding alike, a vibe that lacks newness and oh! shouldn’t we have gotten tired of the same Eledumare will bless you with money, Starboy will bless you with money, baby oh, lines from Wizzy?

Sometimes I feel just as much as Wizkid is an inspiration to a lot of up and coming artistes, he could equally be of negative influence to them especially when they start to lose their originality trying to sound like him. For instance, Ceeza who usually impresses, was lost in the shadow of Wizkid on this song and even the debutant, Terri, failed to take his chance to shine. Who is Spotless? and why is he even named as a contributor?

I feel like Soco was made by an uninspired Wizkid featuring a Wizkid whose sleep was cut short and another Wizkid who would rather be making babies.

I expect a lot of Wizkid fans to disagree with me, just like I disagree with them that Soco is a brilliant song but if you’re asking if it’s a ‘hit’, I’d say yes because it is Wizkid and whether or not it is quality stuff, it would be played everywhere anyways.

Rating – 2.5/5

@dahnielz To be honest, it is becoming a little bit stressful to always review these lame songs that Wizkid takes time and proper planning to drop.

Let me begin by saying this; calling this record a weak attempt would certainly be an understatement. This song and several others of its kind are the reasons behind the low quality of music this industry exports to the developed nations.

For an international act like Wizkid, it beckons on him to make more effort than before to project this industry in the right light. After several listens, you can assume that the only reason the song was packed with the ‘starboy clones’, is because Wizkid is trying to introduce the ‘future superstars’ to his very large fan base.

Every one of them including Wiz did not bring their A game on this song, and it is sad because this record would eventually be forced on an innocent audience after several airplays.

I wouldn’t even keep this song on any of my devices after I’m done with this review.

The only person to be praised for this record is the graphic designer, whoever he is…Thumbs up!

DMW "MIND"Starboy "Soco"-choose ONE

DMW “Mind” vs Starboy “Soco” – Choose ONE!

It is the start of a new year, and already it might seem like two of the industry’s leading labels are jostling for premium status. A-listers, Davido (DMW) and Wizkid (Starboy) have both unveiled their latest signings.

Although it came without the glamourous razzmatazz involving the media and clubs, it is safe to say that the new Starboy, Terri is one of the artistes to watch out for in 2018, as was predicted too for Peruzzi.

Now both Starboy and DMW have dropped their label collaboration this year which is; Soco and Mind respectively.

The big question on everyone’s lips right now is; judging by their latest offering, which label do you prefer?

Is it the Mind-boggling DMW or the Soco-raving Starboy?

Boko Haram: British Military Wants To Help In Rescue Of Abducted Yobe Schoolgirls

The General Advisor, British Military Advisory and Training Team (BMATT) in Nigeria, Major Ian Robertson, has said they would be willing to assist in the rescue of students from Government Girls Secondary School (GGSS), Dapchi in Yobe State, who were reportedly abducted by suspected Boko Haram insurgents.

Speaking on Friday at a forum organized by Partners West Africa-Nigeria on prioritising the voices of women in security organisations based on National Action Plan on Women (2017-2020), Robertson revealed his team was monitoring the situation closely.

He also expressed worries that schoolgirls have become soft targets for insurgents.

“Having heard about this particular issue recently, I am still trying to get more information about what is going on, but it is clearly very disappointing that something like this has happened, that the girls have been taken.

“But let me reassure you, from the British military perspective, that we are monitoring the event quite closely and we are cooperating with the armed forces of Nigeria to see how we can assist,” Robertson said

Facebook Asks INEC To Use Platform To Educate Voters Against 2019 Election

Facebook Asks INEC To Use Platform To Educate Voters Aginst 2019 Election

Social media website, Facebook has offered its platform to Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC for education of voters ahead of the 2019 general election.

Mr. Ebele Okobi, Facebook Public Policy Director for Africa, made the offer when he led a team from the social media company on a courtesy visit to the chairman of INEC, Prof. Mahmood Yakub on Friday.

Mr. Okobi told INEC Chairman that many Nigerian Facebook users are using the platform to share political content,

particularly issues related to 2019 general election and the electoral body could explore the opportunity of the wide reach of the website to engage the millions of users in proper voter education.

Okobi said, “people care very deeply about how they are governed, about who governs them and other political issues.

Knowing that people come to the platform to talk about what they care about, we have developed a politics and government program essentially to understand how our platform is being used,

not just during elections, but also to help governments engage with their citizens and also to see what the risks related to our platform in elections are and what opportunities and programs can be put in place to address the risks.”

In his response, Prof. Yakub thanked Facebook for its offer and expressed the commission’s readiness to work with the networking site.

Mr. Yakubu said many Nigerians rely on Facebook and other social media sites for news about Nigeria and places around the world.

He noted that Facebook has over 80 million users in Nigeria, thus making the country one of the leading users on the continent.

INEC Chairman also thanked Facebook for taking down parody accounts of the commission from its platform and for putting mechanisms in place for checking hate speech and fake news

Why Nigeria Is Losing War Against Corruption (Dele Momodu )Speaks

‘Why Nigeria Is Losing War Against Corruption’- Dele Momodu Speaks

Ovation magazine publisher, Dele Momodu has identified less focus on institutions as a major reason Nigeria is losing the war against corruption.

He said this in reaction to the new report by Transparency International (TI) revealing that the perception of corruption in Nigeria worsened between 2016 and 2017.

Nigeria ranked 148 out of 180 countries assessed in 2017 on the Transparency International annual Corruption Perception Index, showing a deterioration in perception of corruption in public administration in Nigeria compared to 2016.

In an article published on Saturday with the title: ‘Why we are not winning the war against corruption’, Momodu noted that what is greatly needed is the creation of strong institutions rather than strong personalities.

He wrote: “The idea that corruption can only be fought buy one corruption Czar or one person as President must stop. Indeed, that in itself could breed corruption for nothing corrupts more than power. As the saying goes, absolute power corrupts absolutely.

“With strong institutions, all the safeguards and checks already put in place by our Constitution and other enabling laws can thrive. Things will work, seamlessly, regardless of whoever it is we have at the helm of affairs.

“The executive must be willing and ready. The economy must improve drastically. We can preach from now till kingdom come, but an empty stomach would always rumble and grumble. Mass poverty is the greatest tester and tempter of faith. The Executive and the Legislature must work harder together to create an enabling environment and justice for all.

“In this regard, the notion that these politicians are legitimately stealing the country blind, by voting humongous salaries for themselves, must be erased and eradicated. The Judiciary must be encouraged, at all times, to do justice without fear or favour. We have witnessed too much intimidation of the Judiciary in recent time and this does not augur well for the fight against corruption.

“The trial and conviction of alleged offenders on the pages of newspapers and on social media is also very wrong and terrible. No Nigerian should be pronounced guilty summarily without being tried and found guilty in a proper court of Justice

APC CRISIS!Tinubu Reports Oyegun To Buhari,Accuses Him of Sabotaging Presidential Assignment

APC Crisis: Tinubu Reports Oyegun To Buhari, Accuses Him Of Sabotaging Presidential Assignment

There seems to be a palpable crisis brewing in the hegemony of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), as a national leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has accused the national chairman of the party, John Odigie-Oyegun, of allegedly sabotaging his presidential assignment.

In a letter he copied President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, the Senate President, Bukola Saraki and the speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, Tinubu specifically accused Odigie-Oyegun of contravening the spirit of the discussions both of them had at the party secretariat when the president gave him the assignment of reconciling aggrieved members.

In the letter, dated February 21, 2018, and a copy made available to TheCable, the former governor of Lagos state said:

“Disappointment greeted me when I discovered that you had swiftly acted in contravention of the spirit of our discussions. Instead of being a bulwark of support as promised, you positioned yourself in active opposition to the goal of resuscitating the progressive and democratic nature of APC”.

He said while Kogi, Kaduna, Kano and Adamawa states were subjects of his earlier discussion with Oyegun as being the places affected by serious party issues, that Oyegun, however, has “taken it as your own personal ambition to thwart my presidential assignment in these key states.”

He said: “While this may place you insignificant affinity with those parallel officials you handpicked, this machination suggests no improvement in the welfare of the party in Kogi or at the national level.”

Tinubu said Odigie-Oyegun apparently seeks “to undermine my mandate by engaging in dilatory tactics for the most part. When forced to act, you do so in an arbitrary and capricious manner”.

He directed Odigie-Oyegun to, without delay, “make available to me the status reports and all the pertinent information regarding the state chapters without further delay”.

Shocking .!!!!woman With Stomach Bloating Discovers She's Been Carrying Two Sponges in Her Belly For 9 Years

Shocking!!! Woman With Stomach Bloating Discovers She’s Been Carrying 2 Sponges In Her Belly For 9 Years (Photo)

A woman who constantly suffered stomach bloating, has been found out to have been carrying sponges inside her belly for some years.

A CT scan revealed two “hyperdense, stringy” masses near the woman’s hips

According to a report by The Sun UK, a mother who suffered persistent bloating for three years discovered she actually had two surgical sponges left inside her for up to nine years.

The 42-year-old had undergone two c-sections, one six years ago and one nine years ago.

When doctors examined her after she complained of bloating they found two masses near her hip bones.

A CT scan revealed two “hyperdense, stringy” masses, according to the New England Journal of Medicine case report.

The woman needed surgery to remove the masses which turned out to be surgical sponges covered in “thick, fibrous walls” from their time inside her abdomen.

The sponges were left behind during her c-sections, but it is not clear which one.

Dr Takeshi Kondo, from Chiba University Hospital in Japan where the woman was treated, said he believed the sponges came from the same surgery.

During a c-section doctors often use sponges in the spaces between the colon and abdominal wall, to stop the intestines getting in the way, Dr Kondo told Live Science.

Leaving surgical sponges or other instruments inside a patient’s body during a procedure is considered a “never event”, meaning it should never happen.

But some gynaecological surgeries come with a greater risk of these events occurring

There is still High level Corruption in Nigeria -Sultan of sokoto "speaks."

There Is Still High-Level Corruption In Nigeria — Sultan Of Sokoto

The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, has said there is still high-level corruption in the country, noting that “we cannot continue with these negative things.”

The monarch, who doubles as the President-General of the Nigerian Council for Islamic Affairs, called on the Federal Government to fish out the killer herdsmen stigmatising the Fulani ethnic group, noting that there are millions of Fulani in the country including him who are not herdsmen.

The Sultan made these remarks at the public presentation of a book, Dynamics of Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences in Abuja.

The book was written in honour of the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, where the Sultan was the Royal Father of the day.

The Sultan said Nigeria no longer have statesmen but men of state, adding that the government must find ways of getting things right in the country.

He said, “We have so many issues coming up in our polity today and I will just pick one. Nigeria is a country where we don’t celebrate innocent and honest people until after their death. After they are gone, you will now name universities, airports and other things after them.

“The issue of N36m being swallowed by a snake is a sad reality for our country. Where is our moral value; where is our ethics? The reality is that we must wake up from our sleep. Let us not fail further. Things are bad. Corruption is at a very high level and it is left for us to fight it to a terminal end.

“We cannot just sit down and think that things are okay. Things are not okay. We have to find ways of getting things right in this country. We cannot continue with these negative things. Nowadays and like I said recently in Rivers State, we don’t have statesmen; we have men of state.”

The Sultan said it was unfair to label all Fulani as killers, noting that criminality must not be mixed with ethnicity.

He said, “We don’t accept criminals in our midst. We must fish them (the killer herdsmen) out and deal with them. The worst word you can hear nowadays is the Fulani issue. There are millions of Fulani who don’t even know what a cow is. I am a Fulani and I am not a herder. I am a proud Fulani. But everyone believes that when you see a Fulani, he is a killer. It is not true. So, for anyone to label any particular ethnicity is wrong. Let’s give criminals their ideal name; not Christian criminals, not Fulani criminals, not Muslim criminals. If the government has failed, let them call us to come and help out.

“Uthman Dan Fodio founded the caliphate many years ago. He said conscience is an open wound, only truth can heal it. We must take a negative inner feeling away from us. We must not allow our biases to prevail over truth.”

Speaking on the JAMB state officers being investigated for various cases of corruption, Oloyede said they had been asked to return the government’s money in their possession.

He said, “It is a continuous process. When anyone is found to be unable to account for whatever belongs to the government, our first duty is to ask the person to refund. If the person refunds honourably, there will be little or no need to go further. But if they refuse, we will take a necessary step of calling on the security agencies to recover whatever belongs to the government.

“But we know that there are many honourable people that even when they make mistakes, they are ready to rectify them. For these people, there is no problem

Star Boy ! Wizkid Music "Daddy Yo" Played In American movie (wizkid is doing it Big )

Star Boy! Wizkid Music “Daddy Yo” Played In American Movie

British-Nigerian actor, John Boyega, has revealed why he used Star singer, Wizkid’s song ‘Daddy Yo’, among the soundtrack for his upcoming film ‘Pacific Rim’.

The star of ‘Detroit’ and ‘Star Wars’, said he had the opportunity to influence creative choices in the film so it was important to have Afrobeats music in the action flick.

The Hollywood star had in December disclosed that “Pacific Rim”, would heavily target Nigeria as a main marketing spot.

Boyega on his Instagram wrote

“One of the most exciting things about producing Pacific Rim Uprising was the opportunity to influence the creative choices.

”So I put @wizkidayo song “Daddy yo” in the movie. Jaegers need afrobeats too!
